Pecan sticky buns recipe with only 5 ingredients! I think of this recipe as a party trick because it’s incredibly easy, but looks absolutely beautiful and tastes complicated.
We’ve made this pecan sticky rolls recipe every Christmas morning for as long as I can remember. My dad would make us sit at the top of the steps and answer a series of obnoxious questions before we could come downstairs and start on our stockings. Around that time my mom would put the pecan sticky buns into the oven and the sweet caramel smell would start to fill our kitchen and living room.
Some years we would eat the sticky buns before heading in to open presents by the Christmas tree and other years we would wait until after, but every time I look at those pecan sticky rolls with “goop”, as we call it, dripping down the side, I think of my childhood Christmas mornings.
Pecan sticky buns recipe
Here’s the thing — this recipe for pecan sticky buns is so easy, it doesn’t need to be reserved for special occasions. It’s perfect for Christmas morning, Easter Sunday, brunch with friends, or a random Saturday morning. I like to keep all of the ingredients stocked because they always seem to run out of the rolls and butterscotch jello pudding packs around the holidays and I love that we can add an extra special breakfast treat to a random weekend if we’re feeling it. Here’s everything you need to know.
Sticky pecan buns ingredients
- 16 frozen yeast dinner rolls (not the bake-and-serve kind!)
- 1 small package butterscotch pudding (not instant)
- Pecans, crushed
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Directions for sticky rolls with pecans
- Prepare the night before
- Spray/grease bundt pan
- Layer pecans then 16 frozen yeast dinner rolls
- Pour pudding mix, brown sugar, and melted butter over the rolls. Layer more pecans, if desired
- Place the bundt pan in the oven overnight (so the pecan sticky buns can rise), remove in the morning, and preheat oven to 325
- Bake 25-30 mins at 325
- Let the pecan sticky rolls sit for one minute then turn upside down onto platter
