The best gift
Is anyone else trudging through the wild ups and downs in that are Spring in the midwest? Woof. The spring weather in Michigan is FULL of temperature ups and downs and goodness I’m over what that craziness is doing to my headaches. It’s a lot of headaches. And some migraines.
But the best thing happened this week! I had just finished going for a short walk with Miles and grabbed a snack when the phone rang and I recognized the first several numbers as our healthcare system. I was hopeful the call was to schedule Willa’s surgery to get tubes so I answered immediately (and with a tone far too excited for scheduling surgery).
It was her surgeon’s office. And guess what they said?! Not only were they calling to schedule her appointment, they had a cancellation and could get her in for surgery in four days. FOUR DAYS! The office told me that the surgeries were scheduling out into June, months away and our poor Willa had had an ear infection for the last 4.5 months and there was no end in sight.
I literally squealed and told the receptionist that she was my fairy godmother.
The appointment is officially scheduled and I’m hopeful it will bring our girl some relief. I have talked with a bunch of moms that are dealing with the same thing — ear infection after ear infection — right now. I hope all of these babes can work through it quickly — prayers!
My daily planner
I promised I would check in throughout the year to see if I stuck with my daily planner (so many planners in the past were gonners within a couple of months). I’m happy to report that my Day Designer Planner and I are still very much in love. I leave it in my office to the left of my keyboard and it’s the first thing I do each morning after I drop the girls at daycare. I’m still loving the amount of space I have for each day, the “top three” area, and the spacious to-do column. I’ve also started to use the monthly view to track my cycle and get a bird’s eye view at the beginning of the month.
Can’t recommend this planner enough!
Trip to Colorado
I grew up in Michigan and I currently live in Michigan, but I went to school in Virginia to play volleyball at The University of Virginia (HOOS!). I made the most incredible friends during my time at UVa, but a whopping ZERO of my friends from college live in Michigan. For the last decade or so we’ve done a great job keeping in touch. We’ve gone on a couple of girls trips and I’m even in a weekly bible study with a couple of friends, but the main point of connection has been weddings. And this time we are headed to Colorado to celebrate!
Every time we get ready for a UVa trip, I get so excited. These ladies are some of my favorite humans. And when you go through college athletics together, there is a bond that’s hard to break. Heck, we all showered together for four years! My excitement is such a good reminder of how important it is to stay connected with your people, make the time and spend the money to visit, and just enjoy!
I’m sure my feet will be sore from equal parts dancing and shenanigans. Can’t wait!!
