Glucose Revolution book is a great read or listen (I actually listened to the book on Audible) and packed with practical, actionable tips for balancing your blood sugar.
I am not a doctor and I am not giving medical advice. The information I am sharing here is based on what I read in the Glucose Revolution book, which is based on pioneering research conducted by the author, Jessie Inchauspe.
The Glucose Revolution Jessie Inchauspe — what’s the book about?
Glucose Revolution is about improving all areas of your health by balancing your blood glucose levels using easy, research-backed strategies. I find the Glucose Revolution summary of the book on Amazon to be incredibly accurate, so here’s how they put it.
Glucose Revolution: The Life-Changing Power of Balancing your Blood Sugar

Glucose, or blood sugar, is a tiny molecule in our body that has a huge impact on our health. It enters our bloodstream through the starchy or sweet foods we eat. Ninety percent of us suffer from too much glucose in our system—and most of us don’t know it.

Glucose Revolution reviews
The Glucose Revolution reviews, in general, are positive — in fact, Jessie earned a spot on the USA Today bestseller and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists instantly.
My friend recommended the Glucose Revolution book to me after she read it and was completely floored by how actionable the information was. And just like my friend, my Glucose Revolution review is overwhelmingly positive.
I was incredibly impressed with the author of Glucose Revolution, Jessie, and her ability to break down complex concepts into understandable and relatable bites of information with clear direction for practical application. Another things that I loved about the book was that Jessie is really intentional about helping you eat the foods you already eat and she avoid any strict “do this not that” directives.
She doesn’t say, eat this way or you’ll die early. She says, use my framework and strategies, plug in the foods you already eat, and add according to my hacks. She doesn’t want you to never eat sugar, but she does point out that your grandmother’s carrot cake is different than a packaged treat from the gas station. All that to say, it feels real and approachable, which is why I not only liked it, but loved it!
My top three actionable takeaways from Glucose Revolution
There are a few things that have stuck with me since reading this book in the Fall of 2022. They are now a natural part of my daily food habits and I’m so thankful that I found them!
Move after meals
Movement after eating can decrease your blood sugar spike. Try to move within a 90-minute window of eating.
We used to go for a walk around the block in my Grandparent’s neighborhood after Christmas dinner and I remember how amazing it felt to get fresh air and move. Now maybe there is a reason. Although now, as a mom myself, I can see that there probably was a reason which was to help my siblings, my cousins, and I get our energy out — nicely played, Mom.
These are my three go-to post-meal movement ideas:
- Go for a walk
- Do a few set of squats
- Play with the kids outside
Eat in order + add a green starter
Sequencing the order in which you eat the food on your plate can help decrease your blood sugar spike. Here’s the order that sets you up for the smallest glucose spike:
- Vegetables
- Fats and protein
- Carbohydrates
This hack was strange when I first started it, but very natural for me now. I don’t even really think about sequencing my food, I just do it!
Now, you might be thinking, what happens when I’m eating a burrito or pizza where everything is smooshed together? That brings me to this other hack, add a green starter. Using the same logic from the sequencing or order of eating your food, adding a green starter to your meal can decrease your blood sugar spike. What’s a green starter? Exactly what it sounds like, but it doesn’t have to be green to be effective.
I made a post with my favorite options! Check out these green starters for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Put clothes on your carbs
This is the wording that Jessie uses in Glucose Revolution and Glucose Goddess website (her online presence) and I think it’s a great example of how she makes the information approachable. Once I heard her talk about putting clothes on your carbs a bunch of times throughout the book, I couldn’t unhear it and I remembered it.
The idea is that when you’re having a carb add fat to that carb, which (you guessed it!) will decrease the glucose spike. Instead of an apple, try an apple with peanut butter. Instead of a baguette, try a baguette with butter.
Consider the Glucose Revolution highly recommended by a good friend (it’s me, hi!)
The Glucose Revolution book is definitely worth the read if you’re interested in optimizing your health. These hacks are things anyone and everyone can implement. Go grab the book on Audible or paperback.
p.s. The Glucose Goddess Method is coming! Jessie is working on a book that is like a kickstarter guide, 4 hacks, 4 weeks. I’m such a fan, I’ll probably read that too!
